About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Maryland (License #LCM589). I graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, and from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Master’s Degree in Couple and Family Therapy. I am also a trained facilitator in the PREPARE/ENRICH program, which supports engaged or soon to be engaged couples with premarital counseling. I have training and experience in couples therapy, family therapy, individual therapy, and play therapy.
My family moved fairly often when I was younger, so I have lived in the Midwest, on the east coast, and abroad in the Middle East. This taught me the importance of adapting and working with changing circumstances. My family has taught me the importance of connection, support, empathy, acceptance, closeness, and diligence in completing work. I am a life long lover of the theater and have worked both onstage and backstage in many productions from elementary school through my time in New York City, where I earned my undergraduate degree. These experiences taught me the importance of working together and finding the best ways to move toward a goal as a team, in addition to the satisfaction of working together and seeing the outcome of that hard work (in this case, on opening night!). I also enjoy attending theatrical productions all around the DC area.
As a Couple and Family Therapist, my aim is to help couples and families work together to achieve their goals in therapy. Since every client is different, I tailor approaches to each client to help work toward their goals. I want to help couples break free of patterns they get stuck in. I strive to create a safe space where couples and families can talk about the things that occupy their thoughts, but may have never been discussed out loud. By bringing these thoughts and feelings out into the open, we can address them and find ways to move forward amicably, with less conflict. Everyday stress and struggle can often drive a wedge between people. I can help solidify relationships so that my clients can face these life stresses together as a team, supporting each other.
I believe that the training that Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) receive is unique and provides MFTs with the best tools to address relationship processes, regardless of who is actually present in therapy.
“Mental Strength is not the ability to stay out of the darkness; it is the ability to sit present in the darkness knowing that the light will shine again.”
